Live video streaming and podcasts are engaging ways to connect with your organization’s followers and grow your audience. Scott Gilbert, public relations and multimedia team lead at Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine, and Michael Deiner, a multimedia producer at Penn State Health, share how brands can use live Facebook videos and podcasts to present subject matter with immediacy and drive interaction through comments and questions.

About Scott Gilbert

Scott Gilbert joined Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine in 2010 as a media relations specialist and became the public relations and multimedia team lead in October 2017. Prior to that, he worked in broadcast journalism for 14 years. Scott served as multimedia news director at WITF-FM, the NPR affiliate in Harrisburg; an editor and anchor at Associated Press Radio in Washington, DC; and program director at Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation in Sunbury, Pa.

Scott and his team at WITF were honored with several Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association. His radio career also includes stints as morning show host on a rock station in Virginia and promotions director at WINK 104. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

About Michael Deiner

Michael Deiner is a multimedia producer at Penn State Health. In this role, he manages the day-to-day social media strategies, tone and voice for the Penn State Health brand and frequently presents at national health care and social media conferences. Michael also plays a primary role in the video production strategies for the organization. He began his career as a designer/illustrator for the Penn State College of Medicine. He then spent 10 years as a brand activation manager at JPL in Harrisburg, developing and managing national and international brands and digital strategies.
